Update on the pool heater and electrical work

The crocuses and daffodils are poking their heads out of the ground, and you know that that means!

Another snowstorm!

Hopefully, it means that winter is on its way out and the temps will continue to climb! We are excited to get going on this spring and summer pool season, and are also looking forward to a really warm pool this year!

You probably know by now, the pool heater is currently being replaced. As a part of the heater replacement, some of the supply lines are being rerouted to accommodate a smaller footprint for the heater, new location for gas lines, etc. So much of what is being done will dramatically improve the way the heater works, and how the water pressure is managed – saving energy and time in the long run.

As with any project of this size, there are bound to be things that pop up that also need to be addressed. Currently, the big issue is some of the electrical work in the pump room. When you look around in there, it’s clear some things need to be replaced. Water and chemicals are really hard on metals, and some of what is there is becoming corroded and unsafe. Also with a project like this, certified electricians and contractors are obligated to bring systems up to code. There are things we need to fix, and some things we should fix in this project to optimize the time and money being dedicated to this job. That being said, we are doing our diligence to make sure we get the best pricing and the most complete scope of work that needs to be done to bring everything up to code.

So, in addition to making the heater work more efficiently, the electrical system will be repaired to be safe for our lifeguards, workers, and most importantly – the swimmers and party-goers!

Over the years, many residents have also expressed the need to update the timers and security lighting around the park, cabana and parking lot. What we have found as a part of this electrical assessment is that the timers and lights are in need of more efficient and safe components. It would be best if the could be separated on to their own breakers and timers as well as being made safe!

Once the source of the power to the building has been cleaned up, consolidated, grounded, and done to code, we can begin some work moving out from the building into the park grounds. It is the best use of our time, at this phase, to be sure that the root system is solid and adequate.

With all this work over the next few weeks, residents might not get to ‘see’ directly what is being done. My hope is to continue to write here on the website, social media and email about how the project is progressing. Certainly, once the weather breaks, the park will be open, and you are welcome to stop in and see, ask questions, and get involved as you can. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you do have questions about what is being done, how you can help, or to make suggestions for ideas this spring and summer!

Looking forward to turning the water (and the heat) back on!!

See you all soon…pool season is right around the corner!
