New Lorain road entry sign complete! (almost)

It’s been a multi-year project to find the funding, permits and design, and I’m happy to say the project is just about complete! We have worked very hard over the last few years to come up with a way to improve the entry ways – and we’re just about there. Meaning, the sign, hardscaping, and river rock are all installed and look great – but the lighting and landscaping need some TLC.

Even the best of planning can’t always predict what certain things will do in the final environment. So, we need to continue to embellish the landscaping around the signs – that’s pretty apparent from the visual appeal, and from feedback from neighbors. If you are interested in helping to plan some spring work around the signs, any and all feedback and input is welcome! The idea is to make the sign area ‘maintenance free’. It would be preferable to not have to rely on any one to keep those plants alive – it’s just too much work. The more we can make that area look great without much effort, the better. Choosing drought and deer resistant plants is key – in addition to color!

The south-side version of the same project is certainly something we have on the radar. Depending on finances this coming year, we should be able to get that done as well. The neighborhood would certainly look better with two matching entry signs! If you are interested in helping to make that a reality, please get in touch with any one of the board members – we would love your help!

In the next few days, look for some solar powered lighting to be installed around the sign so it can be lit at night without additional costs for electricity or need for ongoing replacements. Imagine a lighted sign for Bretton Ridge again! Thanks for all those that helped to get this project off the ground and completed – we’re almost done!

If you, or anyone you know is interested in helping plan additional landscaping for these entry areas, please contact Jon Jarc via email at: jonathanjarc@gmx.com. A small but mighty team of volunteers would be great! Thanks in advance for your help in making our neighborhood look amazing.
