See ya’ Ice Rink! Pool traffic alert for Monday-Tuesday 7/16-7/17

A small team of neighbors has been working together on some planned updates for our park space, and one of our biggest challenges is about to be addressed… Our park and pool team has reached an agreement with the City of North Olmsted on removing the concrete at the old ice rink, and they (the city) have will start right away!

City trucks and workers will start this coming Monday morning at 7am! There will be a load of trucks and equipment on hand to quickly remove the concrete without much disruption, but given the amount of work involved, there will be some disruptions to travel getting to the playground and pool. If you live near the park, don’t be alarmed by the noise early on Monday – apologies if you planned to sleep in that day…

For Monday and Tuesday of next week, if you are coming to the pool, please park at the south-end of the parking lot, then walk along the south-side of the tennis courts, and then along the bike path to enter the park and pool. Dump trucks will be moving from the parking lot to the ice rink from 7am – 4pm shuttling broken cement off to the dump. Please be advised – and be sure to escort kids to and from the park and pool!

There will be some extra staff on hand to help with pedestrian traffic, but be aware it will be a very busy – and probably loud Monday and part of Tuesday! This update should make a huge impact on the look and feel of the park within the next few months – and very literally ‘clears the way’ for something new down the road.

Thanks to all who helped with the arrangements – it’s going to be a great day!

*Please note: we are actively seeking fill dirt for that updated space, and we will need about 150 cubic yards to level it to grade. If you have any contacts looking to part with and deliver clean fill, please contact Nick Stefanski (216.299.9912) or Jon Jarc (440.344.3438) asap. Thanks!
